Born in Bridgewater, the daughter of the late Leonidas and Edna (L'Oiselle) Boulanger, she lived in New Bedford for many years while summering in Mattapoisett. In 1968, she and her husband moved to Mattapoisett permanently.
She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church.
A devoted wife and mother, Eleanore was an active participant in her husband's small business ventures. She was a Knights of Columbus Wife and helped with numerous fundraisers. As a member of the funeral luncheon ministry, she baked and served for funeral guests in the church hall. She was also active in the Christmas fair at her Church.
She is survived by her children, Claire Bessette and her husband Russell, and Diane Garde and her husband Bob, all of Mattapoisett; seven grandchildren, Danielle (Bessette) Galley and her husband Paul, Leanne (Bessette) Nadeau, Brandon Garde and his wife Stephanie, Melissa (Garde) Root and her husband Jonathan, Trenton Garde and his wife Christine, Sara Garde, and Amanda Garde; fourteen great-grandchildren, Rose and Laura Galley, Nicholas, Abigail, Christian, Andrew, and David Nadeau, Zachary and Cameron Garde, Madeleine, Aidan, and Allison Root, and Kyle and Emma Garde; her sisters, Annette Forgue and Vivian Manghan, both of New Bedford; and several nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
She was the sister of the late Armand Boulanger.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 AM at St. Anthony's Church. Visiting hours will be on Friday from 5-8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Route 6, Mattapoisett. Private Entombment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum, Fall River.
