Memorial services for Joyce Kerr Bourgogne, 89, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church wih the Rev. Scott Bullock officiating.

A native of Washington and a resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Bourgogne died at 11:35 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, 2006, at Belle Teche Nursing Home, at her request she donated her body to Tulane Medical Center.

Mrs. Bourgogne was a retired x-ray and lab tech at Dauterive Hospital. She was co-founder of SNAP, owner of Joyces Knit and Needle Workshop and a member of Iberia Homemakers Organization.

She is survived by her three granddaughters, Linda Escagne and husband Robert, Marie Bowen and husband Bobby, all of New Iberia, and Jackie Morvant and companion Ray Dugas of Loreauville; four grandsons, Gordon Picard, Ronald and Rickey Pourciaux, all of New Iberia, and Robert Pourciaux and wife Jamie of St. Martinville; nine great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and loving pets, Bitsy, Sweetie, Little One and Zing.

Mrs. Bourgogne was preceded in death by her former husband, Eugene Bourgogne Jr.; first husband, Gordon E. Culbertson; parents, Albert A. and Mary St. Cyr Kerr; a son, Russell Allen Bourgogne; a daughter, Dorothy Picard Pourciaux; three brothers; and seven sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Bourgogne's name to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street, Suite 200, Lafayette, La. 70503. and/or SNAP, P.O. Box 10207, New Iberia, La. 70562.
