Mrs. Malaine J. Edwards, age 82, died at a local hospital yesterday morning at 10:30 o’clock after a long illness. She was a native of Franklin County, N.C., and had been a resident of Norfolk for the past 39 years. She was the widow of Joseph J. Edwards. Surviving her are five sons, John T., J.W., W.J., E.O. and L.B. Edwards, all of Norfolk; two daughters, Mrs. W.C. Smith, of South China and Mrs. S.J. Brockmeer, of Norfolk; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday morning at 11 o’clock at the funeral home of James V. Derry, 346 West Princess Anne Road, the Rev. George T. Terrell, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood.
