OAK HALL -- Mrs. Madeline Margaret Ainsworth, 84, former wife of the late Howard Christman and the late Kenneth Ainsworth, passed away at her residence in Oak Hall on Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010.

Born on April 18, 1926, in Withams, she was a daughter of the late Clarence Bowden and Nettie Simpson Bowden. She and her husband owned and operated The Chincoteague Inn for many years. Mrs. Ainsworth was a member of Union Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Marlene K. Rantz and husband, Rickey, of Oak Hall; two stepsons, K.W. Ainsworth and wife, Angie, of Horsey and Keith Ainsworth of Texas; two sisters, Birdie Ruth Lynn of Michigan and Betty Jean Hoffman of Pennsylvania; three brothers, Carlton and James Bowden, both of Assawoman, and Clarence Bowden of Atlantic; four grandchildren, Darryl, Timothy, Tony and Gregory Richardson; eight great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at Union Baptist Church, Chincoteague Island, today at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Kevin Eley officiating. Interment will follow at the John W. Taylor Memorial Cemetery in Temperanceville. There will be a visitation at the church one hour prior to the service.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Eastern Shore, 165 Market St., Suite 3, Onancock, Va. 23417.
