Mrs. Laura Allen Is Given Burial

Funeral services for Mrs. Allen, life long resident of Mills River were conducted at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church on Sunday, May 27 at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. M. L. Lewis assisted by A. I. Justice had charge of the service.

Interment followed in the near cemetery. Her body was laid to rest by her husband who preceded her to the tomb a little more than two years ago.

Grandsons of the deceased acted as pallbearers and the flower girls were her granddaughters.

Mrs. Allen died Friday, May 25 at her home following an illness of measles. She was in her seventy fifth year, having been born December 6, 1858.

She was Miss Laura Bowen before her marriage to Mr. George Allen on January 22, 1885.

To this union were born nine children: three boys and six girls. Of these five children are yet living. They are: Mrs. Neta Moore, Mr. Paul J. Allen, Mrs. Lila Robertson, Mrs. Lala Moss, and Mr. Spurgeon Allen.

One brother, J. C. Bowen also survives, as well as 37 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She had been a member of the Baptist church since early girlhood. Her memory will live in the hearts of those who knew her for many years to come.
