"The funeral of Mrs. John M. Bowers occurred in Christ church this afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Ralph Birdsall officiating. Their choir sang the hymns, 'Son of My Soul', 'When Our Heads are Beared With Woe', and 'In the Hour of Trial'. The bearers were G. Pomeroy Keese, Lee B. Cruttenden, David H. Gregory, L. Averell Carter, Walter B. Stokes, G. Hyde Clarke, Lynn J. Arnold and Theodore Ernst. The flowers were very beautiful. At the grave a quartette from the choir sang 'Peace, Perfect Peace'. Burial was made in Lakewood cemetery. There was a large attendance at the funeral, including several well-known people from New York."
