Maxine Armstrong, a loving wife, mother, and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 3, 2017 at the age of eighty-nine.

She was born June 22, 1927 to Alverta Adella and Walter Heber Bowler in Providence. She was the younger of twin daughters. Maxine and Marjean were the best of friends their whole life. She was raised in Shelley, Idaho, where she attended and graduated from school.

Soon after her high school graduation, she moved to Salt Lake City, where she met Ira Floyd Armstrong who was fresh out of the Marines after serving in WWII. They dated, got engaged and married within two months of meeting. On November 27, 1946, Ira and Maxine were married in the Idaho Falls Temple in a double wedding ceremony with her twin sister, Marjean.

For over thirty years, Maxine worked as an electronic assembler for Electro Controls. Over the years, she served faithfully in her church with her favorite responsibility by far being that of doing extraction work, which she did for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, crafts, drawing, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, twin sister, Marjean Hillman; and sister, Wanda Christensen. She is survived by her beloved husband, Ira; brothers, Wallace Bowler and Richard Bowler; son, Frank Armstrong (Jill); daughter, Becky Bingham (Elton); thirteen grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren.

A special thanks goes to the people at the Sunridge Assisted Living Center and AFI Hospice Services for their loving care in making her comfortable in her last days.

A viewing for family and friends who wish to remember and celebrate Maxine will be held in the Jordan North Fourth Ward Building, 4270 South Falcon Street (4145 West), West Valley City, on Sunday, January 8, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Monday, January 9, 2017 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. The funeral will follow the viewing on Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the Jordan North Fourth Ward Chapel.
Interment will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
