The family moved to Rockford, Winnebago County, IL. She died November 28, 1927, at her residence on 117 Sunset Ave., in Rockford, Winnebago Co., IL. She was buried on November 30, 1927, in Saint Marys and Saint James Cemetery in Rockford, Winnebago County, IL. She was the mother of Daniel James Bowler, Frances Bowler, and Grace Katherine Bowler Kerlin.
Her obituary was published in the Morning Start Newspaper, Rockford, IL., on Tuesday, November 29, 1927, as follows:
MRS. KATE BOWLER: "Mrs. Kate Shaughnessy Bowler, 72 (sic) years old, widow of John Bowler, died Monday morning at 1 o'clock at her home, 117 Sunset avenue, after an illness of several months from infirmities of age. She was born in Sun Prairie, Wis., July 30, 1855 (sic), and came to Rockford in 1890.
Mrs. Bowler is survived by two daughters, Mrs. E. L. Kerlin, Freeport, and Miss Frances Bowler, and a son, Dan, at home. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. B. Hagan, Madison, WI., and a brother, F. M. Shaughnessy, Amarillo, Tex.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock at the home and at 9:20 o'clock at St. Patrick's Catholic church. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery. Friends have been requested to omit flowers at the funeral services which will be held Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock at the home and at 9:30 o'clock at St. Patrick's church. Burial will be in the Catholic cemetery.
