FRED ROYAL BOWMAN, 60, died Tuesday, January 30, 2007. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Mary Elizabeth Bowman; son, Christopher Stephen Bowman; daughter, Amy Nicole Bowman; and sisters, Darla Weir and Patty Atchley, both of Fort Smith, AR. Fred was born June 18, 1946 in Fort Smith, AR. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. He graduated from the University of Arkansas with a B.A. in Accounting with continuing education from the University of Michigan and The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. As a businessman, Fred served as treasurer, vice-president and chief financial officer of Seessel's Supermarkets. He also served as treasurer and vice-chairman of Southern Baptist Educational Center as well as president, treasurer, and secretary of the Memphis Business Group on Health. Fred was a member of Broadway Baptist Church where he was a deacon, finance chairman, served on the Pastor's council and was currently employed there as Executive Administrator. Fred's first love was Jesus Christ which was evident in every role he played. He was first and foremost a Christian, a devoted husband and father, a trustworthy businessman and an unwavering friend to everyone. Visitation and services will be held at Broadway Baptist Church. Visitation will be Thursday, February 1, from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, February 2 at 9 a.m. Interment in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.
