Herbert Edward Bowman

Herbert was born in Decatur County, TN on January 5, 1922.

He was the 5th of 6 children born to the late Phillip Esco Bowman and Lessie Hayes Bowman.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Carmen Bowman of Beacon, TN and Rudolf Bowman of Coldwater, MS and two sisters, Lela Bowman Russell of Memphis, TN and Viola Bowman Brown of Coldwater, MS.

He is survived by one sister, Faye Bowman Ingle of Bartlett, TN. Herbert Bowman was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving his country and fellow man during WWII all across the European theatre with the legendary 9th Armored Division. He participated in the historic Battle of the Bulge and the taking of the Bridge at Ramagen Germany in March 1945.

On March 26, 1949, Herbert was united in marriage with Helen June Wiley with whom he celebrated just short of 64 years of marriage.

He is survived by his wife, Helen and his four children, Cathy Robertson and husband Carl of Cordova, TN, Ricky Bowman and wife Vicky of Coldwater, MS, Jerry Bowman and wife Pamela of Ripley, MS, Danny Bowman and wife Cindy of Byron, GA. He was blessed with seven grandchildren, Theresa Magill, Patricia Bowman, Ricky Bowman, Jr., Joseph Bowman, Benjamin Bowman, Brianna Bowman, and Brittany Bowman; along with seven great-grandchildren.

By trade, he provided well for his family as a Diesel Mechanic and retired from Campbell "66" Express after 36 years in 1985. Herbert Edward Bowman departed this life at Grace Healthcare of Cordova on February 10, 2013 at the age of 91 years, one month and five days.

He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

His family will celebrate his life with Visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the service begins at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 12 at Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Interment will follow at Memphis Memory Gardens.

The family requests any memorials be made to the Disabled Veterans or the charity of choice.
