A.B. Bowman, Jr., 87, of Carlsbad, NM, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2016 at Lakeview Christian Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church with Rev. David McPherson officiating. Interment will follow in the new section of Carlsbad Cemetery with Military Honors performed by the Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. on Wednesday at West Funeral Home.
A.B. Bowman, Jr., was born to A.B. and Berthena (Brown) Bowman on December 20, 1928 in Navarro County, TX. He was raised in Plainview, TX and moved to Carlsbad, NM following his discharge from the US Army where he served during World War II.
A.B. was employed in the maintenance department at the Eddy County Court House for many years and following worked for C.R. Anthony’s and Burgett Flowers in Animas, NM before returning home to Carlsbad. He was a long time member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church.
A.B. is preceded in death by his parents and sister Fayrene Ingram.
He is survived by his brother James Bowman, sister Jessie Gates and niece Collis and husband Daniel Johnson, all of Carlsbad and nephews, Marvin Gates and fiance Alicia of Clovis, NM and Damon Ingram and wife Fey of El Paso, TX and a host of other nieces, nephews and family members.
Pallbearers will be Willie Williams, James Williams, Randall McNeal, Chris Johnson, Michael Johnson, Kevin Jones and Kendall Jones.
Honorary Pallbearers are Bobbie Johnson, James Bowman, Tommy Williams, Norvell Ingram, Richard Cotton, Kevin Miller, David Snipes and Daniel Johnson.
