Her mother was Sarah A Baker, b. 1832 Tennessee d. 1856 Missouri. Her father was Benjamin C. Boydston, 1828-1882. Benjamin moved to Illinois after Sarah died, he remarried Eliza Jane Karnes.

Mary Boydston married James E. Baldwin in Illinois; they are found living with her father in 1870 at Indian Point, Knox, Illinois. Next the family moved to Texas, and at some point Mary and James moved to Muskogee, Oklahoma. James died in 1929 Oklahoma. Mary moved back to Texas, and died 1941, San Antonio, Bexar, Texas. They had 4 children: Jennie B. (1871), Eugene H. (1874), Jeffie Baldwin McCoy (1882), and James Baldwin Jr. (1888). Mary Boydston had one sister, Isabelle Boydston, b. 1852 Missouri, and many step brothers and sisters.
