Mrs. Bertha Bratton Akers, 63, of Bristol, Va. and formerly of Pulaski County, died Wednesday at her home.
A native of Pulaski County, she had lived in Washington County since 1955.
She attended Pine Grove Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband. Coy T. Akers.
Surviving are four sons, Tom Akers of Bristol, Va, Jackie R. Akers of Abingdon, Larry W. Akers of Chattanooga, Tenn. and Danny G. Akers of Elizabethton, Tenn.; three daughters, Brenda Jean Cunningham and Marie Leona Harden, both of Bristol, Va., and Patsy Ann Hahn of Noblesville, Ind.; two brothers, Buck Bratton and Frank Bratton, both of Pulaski; four sisters, Bonnie Simpson of Pulaski, Dollie Grantham of Winston Salem, N.C., Jenette Bennett of Atlanta, Ga. and Barbara Spanhour of Newbern, N.C.; and 17 grandchildren.
The funeral will be 8:30 p.m. today at Farris Funeral Chapel, Abingdon. A graveside service will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Forest Hills Memory Gardens, Abingdon. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Farris Funeral Chapel, Abingdon. Farris Funeral Services, Abingdon, is in charge of arrangements.
