James E. Braxton of the 3200 block of Lens Ave., died Oct. 4, 2003, in his residence. Born in Washington, D.C., he was a retired sand blaster for Norfolk Naval Shipyard and a former member of St. Mark RUZA Church.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Rosetta Braxton; three daughters, Brenda Robinson, Patricia Wood and Dale Mitchell; two sisters, Josephine Frederick and Elizabeth Temple; nine grandchildren; goddaughter, Margaret Bell; special cousin, Uzelless Shannon; best friends, Rudy Felton and Lawrence Crafe; special thanks to Dr. Werner Martins; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be held at noon Saturday at Carlos A. Howard Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. Frank Cuffee with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The remains will be ready for viewing Friday from 3:30 to 8 p.m. The family will assemble at the residence at 11 a.m. for the procession, www.carlosahowardfuneralhome.com.
