GASTONIA - Addie Eugenia Brewer Ballard, 93, of 2300 Aberdeen Blvd., died Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, at Courtland Terrace.

A native of Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late James Ellis and Victoria Auten Brewer. (-birth date estimated-)

Mrs. Ballard was a graduate of Dallas High School and a member of Long Creek Memorial Baptist Church in Dallas.

She is survived by her sons, James R. Ballard and wife, Virginia, Glenn G. Ballard and wife, Ruth, all of Dallas; daughter, Carolyn Owen and husband, Jim of Odessa, Texas; sisters, Virginia Paysour, Mary Weathers, Mollie Spivey, Betty Woody; brothers, Bill, Ben, Adrian and Jack Brewer; granddaughters, Glenda Crowell, Karen McSwain; grandsons, Kevin, Gary and Terry Ballard; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert A. Ballard; sisters, Lula Summey, Bryte Hurst, Hazel Black; brothers, J.D. and Paul Brewer; and grandson, Keith Ballard.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4 p.m., Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, at Long Creek Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Shaw and Rev. Charles Ledford officiating. Interment will be in Long Creek Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24, 2009 at the church.

Dallas Funeral Home is serving the Ballard family.
