Obituary - Barnard Bulletin, February 4, 1932, Thursday (vol. 48, no. 20).

Mrs. Joseph Baker

Evelean Brinkman was born in Buchanan County, Missouri, near St. Joseph, February 6, 1868, and passed away at her home near Barnard, Missouri, February 2, 1932, at the age of 63 years, 11 months, 26 days.

She was married to Joseph B. Baker on October 26, 1890. To this union were born three children, all of whom survive. She leaves to mourn her death her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Edna Brinson, of Bolckow, Missouri; Ervin E. Baker, Girard, Kansas; Fred E. Baker, Barnard, Missouri; 8 grandchildren, and one brother, John H. Brinkman, Manchester, Kansas. A brother and two sisters have proceeded her in death.

Mrs. Baker was converted many years ago at the Pleasant Grove Methodist Church, united with the same and later transferred her membership to the Barnard M. E. Church. She has lived in Nodaway County for over fifty years and is well known by a large circle of friends.

She was a wonderful mother, a noble wife, and an affectionate sister, and a good neighbor. In times of sickness she was always willing to help to bear the burdens and to share with others in their distress. She will be sadly missed, not only in the home, but in the community where she lived. To know her was to love her. In the Master's own words it could be said, "She hath done what she could."

The funeral services were conducted from the Barnard M. E. Church Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock by Rev. Arthur S. Olsen of Kansas City, Missouri. Interment was in the Masonic Cemetery.
