Mrs. Carolyn Brinson Barbree, 87, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Pheobe Putney Memorial Hospital.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel in Bainbridge, Georgia with interment at Brinson Cemetery in Brinson, Georgia. Dr. William Coker will officiate.
Mrs. Barbree was born in Young Harris, GA to Homer & Violet Brinson. A graduate of Brinson High School, she attended the University of Alabama. She received a Bachelors Degree from LaGrange College, a Master’s Degree from Georgia Southwestern, and a six year Degree from Valdosta State. Mrs. Barbree taught school for 43 years in Atlanta, GA, Granville, OH, and Bainbridge, GA.
She married Dick Barbree on August 30, 1952 in Blakely, GA.
Mrs. Barbree is survived by one daughter, Deborah Scheer (Bill); one son, Richard Barbree (Rumynana); five grandchildren, Caroline Sell, Molly Hardegree (Nate), Billy Scheer, Amber Schwartz (Greg), Stephen Barbree; and seven great grandchildren, Morgan Sell, Hannah Sell, Jack Sell, Preston Hardegree, Jordan Hardegree, Kaylin Scheer, and Liam Scheer. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one brother, Homer H. Brinson III.
