She was the daughter of Alanson and Maria Brockett.
She married Rev. Samuel D. Bates, Oct. 1, 1850, in Marion Co.
To this union were born three children,
Elbert A., Harley A., and Harriet M.
She had to have been a supportive wife for her minister husband to have succeeded in his work in the grand fashion as was written of him, and that he was held in such high esteem. It speaks very well for her work and love of family and home.
