Attended public schools in his early life; then lived in the country on a farm for eleven years, when he returned to Pittsburgh; served three years in coach building, and studied civil engineering and was in the employ of the U.S. Government for two years, and for railroads for seven years. He then engaged in the music business and the management of musical and literary entertainments in Pittsburgh. He was a member of the Mozart Club. He joined the Baptist Church at the age of fourteen years. In politics he was a Republican.

Alonzo H. (Lonnie) Brockett, 84, who for 35 years sold concert and lecture
tickets to Pittsburg's social leaders, is dead.
He died suddenly of heart disease yesterday in his home, 1835 Boulevard of
the Allies-- the same home from which he watched more than a half-century
of the city's progress.
Virtually ever music and art loverin Pittsburgh -- wealthy patron and poor student
-- knew Lonnie Brockett.
Andrew Carnegie, H. C. Frick and Andrew W. Mellon were among those who arranged
for concert tickets through Mr. Brockett when they lived.
Brockett began his career as a ticket agent for the old Mozart Club. Later he set
up an office in Wood St., where is remained for more than a generation.
He had charge of the tickets sale for many "personal appearances" by great artists in Carnegie Music Hall and Syria Mosque.
His efforts resulted in the first appearance of Paderewski in Pittsburgh in a concert in the Old City Hall auditorium, according to a brother, Harry B. Brockett.
Born in Pittsburgh, Lonnie was of English descent. His ancestors helped
found New Haven, Conn.
Besides his brother, Mr. Brockett leaves a son, Ahley, who will continue his father's business.
Mr. Brockett was a member of the Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at the H. Samson Funeral Home, 537 Neville St. at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
