Mrs. Byron W. Allen, Jr. of San Bernardino, Calif., died Thursday, Sept. 10, 1959, in the University of California hospital, San Francisco. Mrs. Allen, the former Gleynna Bromley of Northfields, had suffered a cerebral hemorrhage on August 25 while vacationing in San Francisco. The funeral service and burial were in SanBernardino last week. Mrs. Allen’s mother, Mrs. Mary Bromley of Northfields, was with Mrs. Allen during her serious illness and remained in the west to help with the funeral arrangements. Born in Fayette Mo., Mrs. Allen lived in a number of places during her childhood, but came to Northfields as a teenager. She attended St. Olaf College and the University of Nebraska. Her husband is the vice-president of Allen & son, Inc., a steel fabricating company ion San Bernardino. While living in San Bernardino, Mrs. Allen has been active in numerous civic projects, including Arrowhead United Fund campaigns and Y.M.C.A. fund drives. She was also active in the Parent-Teachers association and the Assistance League and was a member of the Arrowhead Country club. She attended the First Congregational church in San Bernardino. She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Terrace Dee; three sons, Byron W. Allen III, Christopher Robin, and Brom Lee; her mother, her father, F.A. Bromley of Denver, Colo.; and a brother, Capt. F.A.Bromley, who is stationed in Japan with the United States Air Force.
