Harold J. Broward, age 87, passed away on March 5, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Jacksonville on March 1, 1928 and has been a life-long resident.
Prior to retirement he worked for Jacksonville Naval Air Station for 39 years. He was a devoted member of the Baymeadows Baptist Church in Jacksonville where he served as a Deacon for over 40 years. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during WWII.
He was pre-deceased by his Great-Grandson, Michael Johnston. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rose Marie Broward; son, Rev. Garry L. Broward; daughters: Elaine Geise (Blaine), Cindy Green (Woodie), and Robin Mitchell (Dan); and sister, Florence Whitaker (Eddie), all of Jacksonville, FL.
He also leaves brothers: Henry, Deral (Sue), Gerald (Carol), Hayward (Marthe) and Donnie (Sarah) Broward; 10 Grandchildren, and 17 Great-Grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 PM at the Baymeadows Baptist Church on Monday March 9. 2015.
Funeral service Tuesday March 10, 2015 at 11:00 AM.
Interment follows in Greenlawn Cemetery, 4300 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hardage-Giddens, Greenlawn Funeral Home and Cemetery.
