Amy's grandparents, John and Sophia Sharp, were founders of Walnut Grove. They settled the area in 1851 and named the town for the walnut trees they found growing there. Amy was the widow of bank president Arthur E. Brown who passed away in 1959, not long after celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Amy was survived by her son Myron, daughter Kathryn, brothers Milo and Corodon (her twin), as well as four grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
