She was one of the founders of the Recycling Adult Workshop which evolved into the Elk Grove Adult Community Training Center. EGACT provides a place for continuing education of the developmentally disabled, and Mrs. Berner was the director of the program for many years.
She and her ex-husband opened the Pizza Barn in 1974 and Mrs. Berner owned and operated it for 25 years.
She is survived by two sons, three grandchildren, her mother, and her twin sister.
