Elaine Bachman was the wife of Irving Bachman and passed away a week after her husband.

Elaine B. Bachmann, 76, passed away on Friday, November 04, 2011, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. She was the wife of 51 years to Bill Bachmann who passed away on October 29, 2011.

Born on Sept. 17, 1935, in Exeter, N.H. she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Evelyn (Dexter) Brown. A graduate of Litchfield High School, Elaine worked as a bookkeeper for the Geo. J. Switzer Company for 40 years, retiring in 1993. She was a lifelong active member of the United Methodist Church of Litchfield, where she served as Financial Secretary, Treasurer and also as chairman of the Church Council. In addition to her family, she loved attending bible study, spending quality time with her husband, Bill in the comfort of their home of 51 years, her cats Sissy and Bibsy, and so appreciated the beauty of nature and wildlife.

She was predeceased by four sisters-in-law, D'Maris Bennett, Lois Brown, Elizabeth Bachmann and Joan Bachmann.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to her church family at United Methodist Church of Litchfield and the loving care she received from Lori and Rena of Charter Oak Services, Kim and Michelle of VNA Northwest and dear friends, Kathy Koprowski and Pauline Hallock.

Her daughter, Heather, wishes to extend special thanks to Ms. Sheri Amechi, Shirley Durante, Mr. John-Paul Evans, Marta Languell and Pastor Elizabeth Jones, for being such a source of strength and comfort for Elaine during her final hours and to the 5th floor nursing staff at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital for the compassionate care they provided.
