Anton Brox, 81, prominent retired farmer, died at 8 o'clock this morning at the Atchison hospital where he had been a patient two days. He had been ill more than a year. When he retired from the farm in the fall of 1954 Mr. Brox and his wife moved to Atchison. The home is at 916 Mound Street.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Benedict's church. Burial will be in St. Louis church cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. tomorrow at the Stanton chapel.
A son of John and Anna Brox, Anton Paul Brox was born in Austria Jan. 3, 1874, and came to America with his parents when only nine months old. The family settled in the Independence Valley community north of Atchison and he attended the district school there.
Aug. 29, 1904 he married Miss Barbara Anslinger, daughter if Jacob and Elizabeth Anslinger, at St. Benedict's church in Atchison.
Mr. and Mrs. Brox lived on the old Brox home place 10 miles northwest of Atchison until moving here.
He was a communicant of St. Benedict's church. Mr. Brox was held in high esteem by his many friends throughout the county. He was a good husband and father was devoted to his family.
Besides his wife he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. William (Irene) Libel, Severance; two sons, George Brox, who farms on the home place, and Edward Brox, who farms in the vicinity of the home place; and six children.
