Stella May Arneson

Stella May Arneson, 90, passed away December 16th at her home on Fox Island. Stella was born in Saskatchewan, Canada on November 26, 1917 to Clarence and Frankie Brunt, moving to Washington State around her fifth birthday, carrying with her an extensive pioneering lineage. She attended Seattle schools, then started a boarding house around 1942. She later owned and operated "Smokey Joe's" restaurant before settling on an accounting career with Pacific Northern Airlines, which later became Western Airlines. On May 30, 1957, she married Woodrow (Bill) Arneson of Wollochet. For the next fifty years Bill and Stella enjoyed fishing, world travel, family and each other. Stella attended the Harbor Covenant Church in Gig Harbor and her love of flowers involved her in the local Garden Club. Stella was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill Brunt, Victor Brunt and John Brunt as well as three sisters, Elva Eastvold, Noralee Bocock, and Marie Corbett. She is survived by her husband, Bill of the family home, sister Pattycole Ulrichs of Fox Island, and Francis Teresa Hansford of Camano Island. A memorial service and burial will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2007 at 2:00 pm at Haven of Rest in Gig Harbor. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salvation Army or the Franciscan Hospice. The family wants to express their gratitude to the kind and caring staff of Franciscan Hospice.
