Passed away June 5th with her beloved children and husband by her side. She was 77. She was born August 16, 1938 in Chewelah, WA and was the 11th of 12 children and the first one born in a hospital. She was named after two nuns/nurses. Midge was a Mead High School graduate. She worked for Mutual of Omaha for many years retiring in 1992. She married Marvin Smith and had five children. Then she met and married Robert Barsness. They shared 36 happy years celebrating life to the fullest. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Montana to visit family. Her time at Loon Lake with family was special to her. She was a true inspiration to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed the simple things in life like listening to Elvis, gardening, Mexican food, chocolate and watching the Seahawks, Mariners, Cougs and Zags and most of all, laughter. She is preceded in death by her parents Buford and Anna Brunton, son Kenneth Allen Smith, son-in-law Steve Olson as well as five brothers and three sisters. She is survived by the love of her life Robert M. Barsness and their nine children: Sue (Phil) Nollmeyer, Diane (Tim) Davey, Walter Smith, Michael (Lori) Smith, Bernice (Randy) Glatt, Brenda (Ted) Spearman, Brian (Kathy) Barsness, Brita Barsness, and Bruce Barsness; sisters Lois Stratton, Charlotte (Bill) Hodges, and Joanne William; sister-in-law Laverna Brunton and brother-in-law Harry Capito as well as 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. She was loved by many and passes on a legacy of unconditional love and kindness. She asked for so little and gave so much. Visitation will be Friday, June 17th from 10 AM to 5 PM at Hennessey Funeral Home, 2203 N. Division. Funeral Services to be held Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 11 AM at Hennessy Funeral Home in the Rose Chapel with interment to follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Ford, WA.
