Dorothy L. Bucher Artman, 85, of Red Lion, died early Sunday morning at Dallastown Nursing Center after a brief illness.

A homemaker, Mrs. Artman had taught school in Rapho Township.

She attended Elizabethtown College, majoring in elementary education.

She was a member of First Church of the Brethren, York, and its Home Builders Sunday school class.

Mrs. Artman belonged to the auxiliary and guild of Memorial Hospital; White Rose Chapter 360 Eastern Star, York; the auxiliary of Cross Keys Brethren Village; the auxiliary of Elizabethtown College; Dr. J.M. Hyson Memorial Court 106, Order of Amaranth; and the auxiliary of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Society.

She was a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Club.

Born in Quarryville, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Rufus P. and Naomi P. White Bucher.

She was the wife of the late Dr. Grover F. Artman.

Surviving are a son, of Costa Rica; a daughter, of York; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, and two sisters.

A daughter, Carol J. Artman, died in 1959.
