Betty (Belle Gene) Bishop died peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, April 3, 2013. Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Rex Carey Bishop, Sr. She was born November 17, 1927 in Homestead Florida and lived most of her life in Miami, Homestead and Aucilla Florida. The last eight years were spent near her children and family in Georgia. Betty loved doing word search puzzles and watching game shows on television. She often would be frustrated by her late husband's overzealous passion for University of Florida sports, especially football, but in his absence this fall she followed his Saturday passion. She was also preceded in death by her parents Felix and Laurie Bullard, brothers Truett and Felix, sisters Willela and Lelia. Betty loved her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids. She is survived by her sons, Raymond and Rex Bishop, daughters-in-law, Susan and Carol Bishop ;grandchildren, Crystal and Kennon Carter, Jason and Kim Bishop, Ray Bishop; great-grandchildren, Michaela, Colin, Natalie, Mallory and Riley; sisters, Nina Chapman and Margaret (Kenneth) Garrett. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Beggs Funeral Home, 485 East Dogwood St., Monticello, FL 32344 with burial at the Bishop Family Cemetery in Aucilla Florida.
