Albert Fletcher Bullard III, age 67, son of the late Albert Fletcher Bullard Jr. and Westa Wilkins Bullard of DeFuniak Springs, died March 7, 2012 at his farm in Mossy Head, Florida. Albert was a man of many interests and a curious mind. He was an Eagle Scout, a graduate of Auburn University, where he received a bachelor's degree in business, and a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon social fraternity. He served in The Army and was a Viet Nam veteran. He led a life of varying business interests including banking, real estate development and yacht brokerage. Being unemployed in Hilton Head Island SC, lead to a nine month sail in the Bahamas with his first wife Anne Bruce Atkinson Bullard of Somerville NC on "Sunburst". Returning to Hilton Head, he started Lighthouse Yacht Brokerage and spent many years living aboard his sailboat, Wax Arrow, and selling yachts to people that came as customers and remained friends for years. He had a great knack for collecting interesting people and keeping up with them. One of the highlights of his young life was being a counselor and scuba dive instructor at Camp Crusoe on the island of Tobago in 1965. He was talking about the importance of this camp in the last days of his life! A second extended sail brought him to Fort Lauderdale, which he called home for many years. In 2006 he relocated to the DeFuniak Springs area where both his parents had been born. The new life as a Hay Farmer brought new friends and new skills. His lifelong love of restoring military jeeps and shooting finally found a home. He is survived by his wife Gabriele, daughter and son-in-law Alicia and Grant Harter of Seattle, Wa., granddaughters Charlotte and Caroline Harter, sister Ann Mosely of Seagrove Beach, Fl, brother William Bullard of Santa Rosa Beach, Fl. and many nephews and family relatives. The family will be receiving friends Sunday, March 11 at 1pm at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home, 230 Park Ave., DeFuniak Springs. Internment will follow immediately in the family plot at Magnolia Cemetery. Gravesite services will be conducted by the Reverend Darrin Phipps. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Chautauqua building in DeFuniak Springs immediately following services. Flowers are accepted, or in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the National Kidney foundation.
