Rev. Father Edward A. Burke was the pastor of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, for over 20 years, from about 1900 to 1923. Prior to that, he had served the Catholics of Kentucky for another 20 years, at St. Paul's parish in Florence, and at the Church of the Annunciation in Paris, but he had long suffered from poor health. He came to Los Angeles in his later years, and he served at Precious Blood parish, until his death at age 83.
