Ramona Lynn “Rona” Betts, 50, of Crisfield died Thursday, November 15, 2012 at her home.
Born in Crisfield on May 13, 1962, she was a daughter of Elmira Goldsborough Ford of Crisfield and the late Richard Burke.
A homemaker, she was an active member of T.W.C. Church of God in Westover. She loved her Pastor and her church family. She was also a volunteer with Coastal Hospice. Rona loved her family, and loved her dogs like she loved her children.
Along with her mother, Elmira Ford, she is survived by her companion, William “Dumplin” Nelson of Crisfield; three children, Hammond R. “Butchie” Betts, III of Belton, SC, Charles Nelson “Chuckie” Betts of Crisfield and Myra Betts of Crisfield; her brothers and sisters, Richard “Ricky” Burke, Jr. of Temperanceville, VA, Randall “Randy” Burke of Crisfield, Ronald “Ronnie” Burke of Crisfield, Robin Windsor of Crisfield, and Ritchie Burke of Baltimore County; a special niece and nephew that she helped raise, Kristen Sneade and Brian Burke; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Along with her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hammond R. Betts, Jr. on February 4, 2000; and a daughter, Deborah Nicole “Nickki” Betts on June 13, 1990.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 2 PM at T.W.C. Church of God in Westover where friends may call one hour prior. Rev. Greg Cox will officiate. Urn interment will be at a later date in Asbury Cemetery.
