Mary Ann Boemer died Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 4, 2006, in Anaconda.

She was born in Miles City on May 31, 1923, to George and Dorothy (Rawlings) Burke. The family moved to Butte when she was a child, and Mary completed her education in Butte. She and her sister loved to go dancing at Luigi's and that is where she met her husband, Albert "Bill" Boemer. She worked at the American Candy Shop and she and her husband owned Boemer's Youth Junction. Mary also worked at the Woolworth Café and Race Track Bar and Café.

Mary had a personality that would light up a room. Her ability to seize the moment and live life to the fullest was evident in everything she did. Her sense of gratitude was profound and even the smallest gesture of kindness to her was big. She was giving and full of life and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life.

Mary is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Jerry Clark of Anaconda; son, Bill Boemer of Butte; grandchildren, Jamie and Joe Hardesty, Monica and Todd Burt, Sean Boemer, Hayleigh Garret, Carleigh Garrett, Dylan Garrett and Taylor Garrett; great-grandchildren, Tanner, Taylor and Mikayla Burt, Briley and Bryton Hardesty; sister, Betty Brockman of Canby, Ore.; brother, George Richard "Dick" Burke of Butte; cousin, Dorothy Reed of Butte; and very dear friend, Anna Jean Chouinard of Butte.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert "Bill" Boemer; brother, James Burke; sister, Jane; and cousin, Don Reed.

Cremation has taken place in Butte. Memorial services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday in Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home with the Rev. Edward Courtney officiating. Interment of ashes will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorials in memory of Mary may be made to the Shrine Hospital for Children.
