Burks, Robert Allen, 86, passed away July 5th, 2011 in Long Beach. Burks was born on February 7, 1925 in Pickering, Missouri. A resident of Los Alamitos since 1957, Burks was active in the horse racing scene. He was a successful owner and breeder of quarter horses that raced at Los Alamitos. Burks served three years in the U. S. Navy as a radioman aboard the USS Biscayne during World War II. Bob was also a longtime real estate broker in the city of Buena Park. Burks was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Mary Alice Burks, his only son, David Burks, his brother Bill W. Burks, and his sister, Donna Hoffman. He is survived by his three daughters, and his four grandchildren. He was commonly known as "Gramps" to his friends and family. He will be missed dearly. Viewing at Forest Lawn Cypress, Wednesday, July 13th 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 14th at 11:00 a.m. at Church of Our Fathers Forest Lawn Cypress.
