Obituary, New York (NY) Times, 15-16 Apr 2009:

James Coleman Burnet, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2009 at Pleasant View Center in Concord, NH. He was 92. Born November 11, 1916 to Arthur Russell Burnet and Mary Lewis Coleman Burnet in the family home in Harrison, NY, they moved shortly thereafter to New Rochelle, where Jim lived until 1993. He was a graduate of Isaac Young Middle School, New Rochelle High School, and went on to study design and engineering of radio transmitters at RCA Institute. He joined Voland & Sons of New Rochelle in 1943 where he worked for over 40 years as a technician producing precision balances for leading industries and government agencies including NASA and the U.S. Bureau of Standards. From 1944-1946 he served in the U.S. Army Western Pacific Headquarters Replacement Command stationed in the Philippines, and was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Campaign, WWII Victory and American Campaign Medals. His childhood summers spent on Lake Sunapee, NH, inspired his retirement to Concord in 1993. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Caroline Fairchild, son, James C. Burnet, Jr., three brothers, Arthur, Robert and Frank, and sister, Eleanor Burnet Sachs. He is survived by his daughter Susan Fairchild Burnet of White Plains, NY, sister-in-law Mary Burnet and many cousins, nieces & nephews who will miss him dearly. A burial service is planned by the family on Saturday April 25th 11AM at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Newark, NJ.
