Husband of Mildred E. Burns who resided in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Linus served as a Staff Sergeant & Engineer on B-29 "Joker's Wild II" #42-24857, 871st Bomber Squadron, 497th Bomber Group, Very Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Mahoning County, Ohio prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on November 13, 1941, prior to the war, at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Guard and also as Single, without dependents.

B-29 "Joker's Wild II" #42-24857 took off from Saipan on a mission to bomb the Nakajima Aircraft Works near Tokyo, Japan. After bombing their target they had to ditch their B-29 for lack of fuel into the sea.

Linus was declared "Missing In Action" in this crash during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
