Diane was a lifelong caretaker for previous agencies until she could no longer do so due to health problems. She enjoyed putting everyone else first. She also enjoyed bowling, playing pool and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Diane is survived by her husband, Edward Clyde Alkire, and a daughter, Tara Louise Alkire, both at home; a daughter, Bobbie L. Shaffer and husband Chris Sims of Clarksburg; one son, Edward Clyde Alkire Jr. and wife Jessica Alkire of Clarksburg; her father, Raymond L. Burns and lifelong companion Jean Carmody of Morgantown; five grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Ashley Sims, Edward Alkire III, Brianna and Taylor Alkire; three sisters, Pam L. Burns Sanders and husband Terry Sanders, Patty R. Burns Johnson and husband Rick Johnson, and Mary D. Burns Cottrell and husband Mike Cottrell; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Patty Burns; father-in-law, James Forest Alkire Sr.; grandparents, Jim and Mary Heston and Emma Burns; and uncle Jimmy Heston.
Friends may call from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. Sunday at McCulla Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at McCulla Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Zoar Cemetery.
