She was the daughter of William Lawrence Byron and Mary Slattery from Ireland. She had 2 brothers and 2 sisters and 3 half brothers.

She was my grandmother, Mother to Helen (my mother), Annie, Jean and Robert Gilruth. She was married to Robert Gilruth and they Homesteaded in Lolo, MT before my grandfather was murdered there in 1909.

She also married a Harry Baker in 1914 and Homesteaded in Charlo, MT. for awhile, then divorced.

Here is some info from census and other records that other people have sent me.

I found some additional info in the 1910 census: Mary GILRUTH, widowed twice, age 32, b. PA and parents b. Ireland, she had 4 children born and 3 alive, 3 children: Felder (should be Helen) daughter age 8, Genie (Jeanie)age 6, Robert son age 4,and they lived in Hellgate, Missoula Co.,MT. It sounds like Gilruth was her 2nd marriage. All the children were listed as GILRUTH and b. in MT. (She wasn't widowed twice, and he was her 1st husband.) (And the Felder should be Helen my mother)

I was also looking for BAKER and found the following in the 1920 census for the City of Missoula, Missoula Co.,MT: Harry BAKER, age 43, fireman, b.MN and parents b.MN, Mary BAKER, wife, b.PA and parents b. Ireland, age 41, and 2 children listed as BAKER: Gini or Geni,(Jeanie)daughter age 16 b.MT, Robert son age 14 b.MT. I did find the death of a Harry BAKER, 2 Dec 1944, b. about 1878, that fits with your Harry, but it is not clear if the death was in Missoula. The MT Death Index on Ancestry lists the place of death as Deer Lodge Co.,Montana.

I am sure this is the same Harry Baker and my grandmother. the children's names fit, and my mother Helen would have been married by then. They just spelled Jeannie wrong.

She ended up settling in Chula Vista, CA and lived with her son Robert who never married, until her death at age 91.
