Evelyn Calvin Autrey, 91, of Caldwell, passed away on June 8, 2009, at her home in Caldwell. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, at Strickland Funeral Home Chapel in Caldwell. Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Thursday, June 11, at the funeral home with the Rev. Steve Johnson and the Rev. Tommy French officiating. Interment will follow in Providence Cemetery in Caldwell under the care and direction of Strickland Funeral Home. Evelyn was born on January 13, 1918 in Burleson County to Arthur Calvin and Mamie Henderson Calvin. She married J.D. Autrey and together they shared 60 years as husband and wife. Evelyn was a Baptist Sunday school teacher for many years. She loved entertaining, cooking, fishing, and watching her grandkids grow. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Mamie Calvin; husband, J.D. Autrey; brothers, Frank and Hubert Calvin; sister, Eula Mae Calvin; and brother-in-law Loss Warlick. Survivors include her husband, Ram Martinez, of Bryan; son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Becky Autrey, of Caldwell; brother and sisters-in-law, T.L. and June Calvin, of Caldwell, Naomi Calvin, of Houston, Wilma Calvin, of Denim Springs, La.; sister, Blythe Warlick, of College Station; grandchildren, Cody, Dillon and Kaitlyn Autrey, of Caldwell; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be John Cooper, Chuck Tedrick, Billy Brewer, David Wolz, David Bessire, and Thomas Wolz.
