WILLIAMSBURG - James "Kent" Campbell, 70, passed away Friday, Aug. 27, 2010 at Riverside Regional Medical Center.

Born in Lowesville, Va., he had been a Peninsula resident for the past 57 years. He was currently employed as a self-employed construction equipment operator. He was a member of Colony Friends Church and Warwick Moose Lodge 1711, in Newport News, and will be fondly remembered by his family as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
"Kent" was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Shirley Campbell; three sisters, Phyllis and Beulah Massie, and Joyce Campbell; and two brothers, Ronald and Amos Campbell.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Ann Campbell; two daughters, Kelley Campbell of Williamsburg, and Melissa Campbell of Newport News; a sister, Mary Parker and husband, John of Wicomico, Va.; two sisters-in-law, Carol Campbell of Newport News, and Dot Coleman and husband, Julian of Blacksburg, Va.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 30 at Weymouth Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, at the funeral home chapel, by the Rev. Dave Thornton. Interment will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park.
