Isabel Campbell Bixby, age 92, formerly of Pepperell and Groton passed away on Friday, July 21, 2017 at Nashoba Park Assisted Living Facility in Ayer. She was the wife of the late Rudolph Varnum Bixby.
Born on April 21, 1925 in Milngavie, Scotland, she was the daughter of the late James Stephenson Campbell and Isabella (Emerson) Campbell.
Raised and early educated in Scotland, Isabel moved to the United States in 1949 and settled in Groton. She was married in 1953. She worked for many years as a clerk with Gro-Lex and later the Groton Electric Light Company, retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Union Congregational Church in Groton and in recent years attended the Christian Union Church in West Groton. Isabel was active for many years with the Order of the Eastern Star and Rebekahs. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed playing cards, bowling and visiting with her friends at the Groton Senior Center. In 2015 she moved to Nashoba Park in Ayer.
Isabel is survived by her children, Gail Bixby, Brian Bixby and Colin Bixby; her grandchildren, Shawn Spencer, Kimberly Roesch, Luke Bixby and Sam Bixby; and her great-grandchildren, Alexis and Jacob Spencer, and Ethan and Owen Roesch.
Burial at Groton Cemetery.
