MONTEREY – Eleanor "Weeds" Candy passed away Sunday, May 27, 2007, at the Ave Maria Convalescent Hospital, a few months short of her 99th birthday.
Eleanor was born in Frederick, Maryland, to Alfred and Margaret McEwen. She attended the Miss Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, New York. She graduated from the Spence School in New York City and then spent a year at Miss Rissers School for Americans in Rome, Italy. During World War II, Miss McEwen, as a civilian, worked for the office of the U.S. Naval Intelligence in New York City. She and the late William E. Candy were married in 1944 in Norman, Oklahoma. They had no children, but are survived by numerous nieces and nephews. The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Eleanor may be made to: Humane Society of Wickenburg, Arizona – P.O. Box 147, Wickenburg, Arizona 85358.
Graveside Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, June 1, 2007 at El Carmelo Cemetery in Pacific Grove. Friends are invited to sign the online guest book for Eleanor and leave condolences for the family at:www.thepaulmortuary.com.
