Sue Anne Crittenden Cannon

December 6, 2014 - August 10, 1933

loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend returned home to her Heavenly Father on December 6, 2014 at the age of 81.

She was born the third of four children to loving parents, Ivan Herbert and Clara Hunter Crittenden on August 10, 1933. She grew up in Los Angeles, California. She attended Los Angeles High School where she met her sweetheart, Stuart Quayle Cannon. They both attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah and then married in the Salt Lake Temple on September 2, 1952. Together they raised 4 children while living in Los Angeles, Fullerton, Placentia and Walnut Creek, California. They spent their retirement years living in Alpine, Utah.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints throughout her life. She had a strong testimony of the Savior and the Atonement and enjoyed serving in various capacities. She took great comfort in her knowledge of the Gospel, particularly after the death of her beloved husband.

Sue and Stuart loved travelling around in their RV, and made many “RV buddy couples” along the way. She made friends everywhere she went, and loved social gatherings. Sue was the life of the party and enjoyed hosting friends and family in her home. Her bright smile lit up the room. She took pride in being “dressed to the nines” for every event and loved carefully choosing the perfect décor for each gathering and holiday.

Sue treasured her relationships with her family, her siblings remained her dearest friends throughout her life. She was proud of her heritage and enjoyed participating in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She was a doting mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved spending time with her family members. She was thoughtful and generous, and was careful to choose gifts she knew others would love.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stuart and her daughter, Sally Cannon Williams, as well as her brother Dr. Ivan Hunter Crittenden. She is survived by her children, Scott Quayle Cannon, Shauna Cannon Merrill (Nate), and Steven Hunter Cannon (Kamille). She also leaves behind sisters, Marian Crittenden Bergeson (Garth), Jean Lawrence Crittenden and Carolyn Crittenden Tyler (Jim), as well as her grandchildren and their spouses and eight great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her beloved Rottweiler, Max.
