DOLORES CANOVA Passed away in Santa Rosa September 19, 2004. Born July 14, 1935 in Susanville, and raised in San Francisco, Dolores moved to Oakland and retired from Pacific Bell. For the past 11 years, Dolores resided in Santa Rosa with her cousin Angie Romagnolo, and worked part-time for the Y.M.C.A. Dolores continued to be an active member of the Meridians of St. Leander Church in San Leandro which, in addition to their fellowship, were responsible for many charitable fund raisers. She was also active in many other Bay Area charitable organizations. Dolores was a member of St. Eugene's Cathedral in Santa Rosa where she sat vigil at the Adoration of the Eucharist. After her retirement from Pacific Bell, she traveled frequently planning one or two major trips a year that are chronicled in her numerous photo albums. Dolores loved the changing seasons and all of the wonders the earth provided. She was an avid reader, and looked forward to new experiences. She was preceded in death by her father, Clemente Canova and her mother, Erminia Favretto Canova. She is survived by her sister, Angela Canova; beloved cousins, Ginny Engberg and her husband Chuck, Theresa Draper and her husband Scott and their children Travis and Brandon, as well as numerous other cousins. Dolores will be remembered as a gentle spiritual woman who touched others with her kind compassion, caring listening heart and deep faith. She will forever be close in our hearts and always loved. To all of the people who have prayed and have given Dolores their love and support during her illness, the Family wishes to give their heartfelt thanks. Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Saturday, September 25, 2004, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Eugene's Cathedral, 2323 Montgomery Dr., Santa Rosa. A Vigil Service will be held on Friday, 7:00 p.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Roses, 1225 Sonoma Ave., Santa Rosa. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery, Hayward.
