Funeral services were held Wednesday for Mr. John Milton Carey. Mr. Carey
died Thursday (should be Tuesday), December 6th after being in poor health for
a year. He was 95 years of age.
Funeral services were conducted from Pennington Chapel M. E. Church at 2:30
p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Sampson Hart and Rev. Strickland officiating. Burial
followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Carey was a native of Franklin County, a son of the late James and Cyndia
Fowler Carey. In 1879 he married Miss Hester Cornelia Nicholson, who preceded
him in death. Mr. Carey was a member of Jones Chapel church. He died at his
home in Shiloh Community.
He is survived by 1 daughter, Mrs. Henry Rowland of Kannapolis, NC and the
following sons: Epp Carey, Edge H. Carey, Sanford Carey, all of Danielsville,
Omer Carey of Kannapolis, NC, Hubert Carey and Harold Carey, both of Hull, GA
and Little Carey of Royston. Mr. Carey is also survived by 63 grandchildren,
72 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren.
Cunningham & Pruitte were in charge.
