James was the husband of Margaret Carey who was the daughter of Patrick McNevin and the older sister of TJ McNevin. They were married 11 01 1888 in Morris Mn after meeting in St. Paul while he was working for the Great Northern Railroad and she had moved to also work. They had eight children: Mary Ellen (1890-1890) John Justin (1892-1939) Bernadette (1893-1893) Raymond Louis (1894-1981) Anthony Joseph (1896-1939) Francis Ransom (1898-1965) Anna Marie (1901-1901) and an unnamed Daughter. The family moved to Lewistown, Montana in the 1916 because of his job. In 1920 when he retired he and Margaret moved to Long Beach Ca by way of Seattle Wa (1920 census) where Raymond was living at the time. In 1930 they were living 116 Eagle St, Long Beach with their son Jack.
