Arland G. "Brownie" Carlson, a resident of Royalton, died Aug. 3, 2007, at the St. Cloud Hospital.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls with the Rev. Nick Landsberger officiating. Interment will be in St. Adalbert's Catholic Cemetery in Little Falls.
Arland G. "Brownie" Carlson was born Dec. 15, 1934, in Valley City, N.D. to the late Albert G. and Nelta (Menerva) Carlson. He grew up in Sanborn, N.D. where he attended and graduated from Sanborn High School with the Class of 1954. He served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957. He was united in marriage to Joan M. Schoessling in 1957. The couple lived in Chicago from 1961 to 1980 when they returned to Minnesota. Brownie became a Budweiser Wholesaler, establishing C & L Distributing of which he served as president and CEO, with present locations in Sauk Rapids, Baxter and Hutchinson. C & L Distributing began in the early years in Royalton. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Belle Prairie, Sauk Rapids Lions Club, National Beer Wholesalers Association and the Minnesota Beer Wholesalers Association.
Brownie is survived by his wife Joan; son and daughters Steven Carlson of Brooklyn Park, Cindy Lipschultz and husband Kent of Wyoming, Jennifer Smith and husband Steven of North Brook, Ill., Josephine Crawford and husband Francis of St. Cloud, Personal Manager Bernadette Perryman of Clear Lake; one brother; four sisters and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and three sisters.
Casketbearers were Steven Carlson, Steven Smith, Francis Crawford, Keith Ulrick, Kent Lipschultz, Spencer Smith, Cory Lipschultz.
In lieu of flowers make memorials to the American Cancer Society.
