Irish born Brother Hugh Carr, C.M., was a member of the Congregation of the Mission of St. Vincent de Paul in Los Angeles, California. A religious brother, he served at Niagara University in New York from 1880-1886. He was a cook for the community at St. Mary's of the Barrens Seminary in Perryville, Missouri, during the late 1880s. Brother Carr last assisted at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in the Whittier/Los Nietos area of Los Angeles, where he died at age 58.
