ALMOND, Mrs. Carrie Carr, age 90, went to be with the Lord on August 6, 2008 at 10:10 p.m. She was born in Spotsylvania County on December 25, 1917. Mrs. Almond resided in Glen Allen, Va., with her daughter, Marrian, for the past nine years. She was a member of Craigs Baptist Church in Spotsylvania, Va. She also attended Mechanicsville Baptist Church in Mechanicsville, Va. Mrs. Almond was preceded in death by her husband, E. Clifton Almond; her mother, Mamie Gallahan Carter; her brothers, Berkley and Daniel Carr. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Elmora Golightly and husband, Bob, and Mrs. Marrian Mills and husband, Lionel; additional survivors include six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. The family will receive friends Friday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mechanicsville Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Craigs Baptist Church Cemetery, Spotsylvania County, Saturday, 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Virginia.
