Laurita C. Barela, age 94, a resident of Veguita, NM went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 8, 2012.
Laurita was preceded in death her loving husband, Damacio Barela, daughters, Sophie Chávez and Mary Ellen Maestas.
Laurita is survived by her children, Eddie Barela and his wife, Terry, Emilio Barela, Bea Castillo and her husband, David, Ida Herrera and her husband, Tim, Esther Featherstone and her husband, Bob and Rose Peralta and her partner, Mark Truman, 19 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, brothers, Reynaldo Carrillo and Felimon Carrillo and his wife, Esther.
A Public Viewing will be held at Romero Funeral Home on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. A Final Visitation will be held at San Juan Catholic Church on Monday, March 12, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the San Juan Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dominic Barela, Aaron Herrera, Joshua Chávez, Jeremy Chávez, Bryan Chávez and Philip Hudgell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jason Chávez and Eric Maestas.∼Obituary states: Interment will follow at the San Juan Catholic Cemetery.
